Heritage Skills Festival

The Lincoln Cathedral is hosting a Heritage Skills Festival on Fri 23 June & Sat 24 June, in conjunction with the City of London Livery Companies. The City of London Livery Companies comprise London’s ancient and modern trade associations, and have evolved from the very powerful medieval guilds.

I was asked to be involved with this project for the Worshipful Company of Broderers. What an honour! I’ll be demonstrating on both Friday and Saturday. Please come and have a look if you have a chance to come to Lincoln. The Heritage Skills Festival is open from 10 am to 4 pm with free entry.

The Worshipful Company of Broderers will be working with the Lincoln Cathedral’s own needlework team. Royal School of Needlework and Fine Cell Work will also be there since the Broderers supports them. It’s nice to know that my colleagues from RSN will be there, too:)

There will be displays, demonstrations and hands-on have-a-go areas. It’s not only embroidery. At this event, you’ll be able to see other Livery Companies, such as Clockmakers, Masons, Turners, Weavers, Painters & Stainers, Goldsmiths, Basketmakers, and much much more! Looking forward to this event.

There will be an auction on Saturday, and an embroidered box made by the Broderes will be auctioned as well. I was asked to design the embroidery to go on this box. I also embroidered myself for the top lid of this box. The front and the back of the box were embroidered by other members of the Broderers. The photos above were taken before removing the embroidery from a slate frame. Another member of the Broderers is making up this box.  I am humbly honoured to be a part of this project.
