On Sunday 10 June 2018, the streets of Belfast, Cardiff, Edinburgh and London were filled with thousands of women and girls across the UK, wearing the suffragette colours.
‘Processions 2018’ was a living artwork to honour and celebrate one hundred years since the suffragettes first won the right to vote and stand for public office, to create a portrait of women in the 21st century, and to send a message that there is much work still to be done in terms of equality.
Royal School of Needlework also participated in this wonderful event. In the Studio we made a banner using the suffragette colours – green, white and violet (give women vote). I couldn’t join the procession on the day due to another commitment, but I’m so glad I could take part in making the banner.

What a lovely banner! It looks wonderful and is a great reminder of both the work done in the past and that more work is required with equality!
